Meet Bukola Ishola-Broome, Client Manager at Nava Benefits

Give us the cliffs notes of your career, pre-Nava.

My first "big kid" job after graduating from college was working in Health, Environment, and Safety for a small energy company in Santa Barbara, California in a role that was HR-adjacent. After realizing that I enjoyed helping people, I pivoted to HR and quickly realized that benefits was the part of my job that intrigued me the most. I officially kicked off my career in employer benefits shortly thereafter, working at a smaller insurance brokerage firm that ultimately got acquired by a larger national firm.

What made you want to join Nava?

The mission to fix healthcare and bring affordable healthcare to ALL Americans hit on one of three problems that I believe need to be addressed for future generations (the other two being equitable education for all and climate change).

Biggest piece of professional advice?

“Success isn't about how much money you make. It's about the difference you make in people's lives.” - Michelle Obama

How would you describe the Nava team in three words?

Kind, intelligent, authentic.

If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?

Robin Roberts (co-anchor on Good Morning America, former ESPN Sports Host, cancer survivor, and Myelodysplastic syndrome survivor). Her drive, tenacity, and positivity are characteristics that I try to emulate every day.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was a kid I wanted to be an architect. Even though I did not follow that path professionally, I still admire contemporary residential architecture.

What's your favorite part of working remotely?

Hanging out with the best coworker: my dog, Lando (Calrissian - IYKYK)!
